Cemar failed to make the last jump from the FTIO boards to here, when we made that transition in Aug 2010.

Colleen, I could read your threads but it would take forever. But what's your plan/timeline on reassignment and/or feminization surgeries Also, I used to travel to Bangkok with the family for holidays - lots of people go there for re-assignment because they have a huge transgendered culture and Drs have developed amazing skills. It's not expensive and you'll have an endless supply of lavender-infused warm towels.

Colleen, I could read your threads but it would take forever. But what's your plan/timeline on reassignment and/or feminization surgeries ... Yes, Thailand is well known in the community, I have a personal friend who went that route, and she's very happy. For myself, I'm content (for now) to follow the program set out by the Gender Identity Clinic in Toronto (known colloquially as CAMH), which has recently undergone a profound change in philosophy concurrent with a major turnover in staff reaching the highest levels. I had my first appointment with them on January 11 (which also happens to be Sue's birthday... ), and a follow-up appointment on July 9. Their assessment came as no surprise to me - they're in agreement that I meet the criteria/profile as a MTF transsexual. It used to be (and still is, in some places) referred to "Gender Identity Disorder", however the newest version of the Standards Of Care (just released) de-pathologizes the condition, and no longer refers to it as a "disorder". Anyway, timeline. I've been on hormones for about six months now, and a number of changes are taking place in my body, the most noticeable (to others) being breast development. I've been undergoing laser/electrolysis on my face for beard removal, but that will go on for probably another year or two, as I have a lot of gray, that requires electrolysis - it doesn't respond to laser. I've been living full-time as Colleen, in ALL areas of my life, since April, and have legally changed my name. I now have a new driver's license and health card, credit cards, checks, etc. Soon I'll start the process (in both Canada and the US, I'm a dual citizen) to get my name changed on my SSN/SIN, passports and birth certificate (Iowa). CAMH used to (up until a few months ago) require two years of Real Life Experience (living full-time in your target gender, as I'm doing now) before recommending/approving Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS). However, they have now changed that to a ONE year requirement, so I'm already half done with that. By April of next year, I will be eligible for approval for surgery. In the CAMH program, approval for surgery equates to getting the GRS paid for by the government, with one of the world's foremost surgeons, Dr. Brassard in Montreal. So that's my plan at the moment with regard to surgery, which means that within the next year or 18 months, I could be surgically complete. I have no plans for Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) or breast augmentation, I'm happy with my appearance, and I'm willing to be satisfied with whatever genetics and hormones give me in the breast department (it should be noted that all the women in my family are HUGE, DD - FF). So that's pretty much it so far.
