Welcome again, then. Pull up a post and start a topic! I don't know if you know how this boards works or not, but you are currently in the public section, and there is a whole different private section. One of the mods will have to make you a full member to give you access to the private section. (That's where all the juicy topics are!)  |

I see from your other post that the DB ssm moderators editing got on you nerves as well.
Feel free to post and share your thoughts.
As a fairly new member myself, I have found this to be an interesting, educated, thoughtful group of folks struggling with their own demons, but willing to open their hearts and minds to helping others.

Hey All,
This this is Dave from 6 years ago on the SSM site. I was having a nostalgic moment the other night and decided to drop an email to Corri who mentioned this site. I just thought I'd say hi. I'm not sure how many of you are from the old-old-days but at any rate, it looks like a good community has developed.
Once I get some more time, I'll post some background and an update on things.

No, it was AtlDave, for Atlanta Dave, that was when he was changing his handle lest his W find his posts. I read his very first post about PM, and we used to have L-O-N-G conversations on the practical applications of Schnarchian Logic - I think he and I were the main Scnharch proponents for a while. He knew my real name, we emailed back-channel, but I wasn't wearing makeup or jewelry then. Here's another hint, Dave... my initials were T.M. (NOT for Transcendental Meditation, lol...)

Yep....I was AtlDave and Dave36 - now it's more like SFODave and Dave43. Colleen, I'm seriously drawing a blank. I just had to do a search on my name to see the usual suspects. Hmmm.....
Ok, just got back from looking on those boards and omg, I just saw the same threads we were posting 6 years ago. So painful. I just saw a post "how do I get my wife to read SSM". Ugh! I know they need to go through this process for a while but I just wanted to fire away with "you are *you*...she is *she*...tell her what you want for yourself, own your f'ing sex life...be a man...stop being a pussy. Life's too short for relationships that immaculate you." Yah, I would be moderated and likely banned if I got on the SSM board and offered my suggestions. I'm not as patient or analytical as I used to be and I really don't believe in avoiding divorce at all costs. I'll post an update with where I'm at right now on another thread.
Ok Colleen...I give up.

Ok, being the progressive liberal that I am...living in San Francisco and everything - going to Folsom Street fair with my kinky friends, I'll say congratulations! I'm really happy for you...But....HOLY CRAP!!! I think it was a post of yours I saw on a SSM boards - a revisit in like 2009 or something with a post about nothing changing. It was someones recommendation to read about Love Languages that made me laugh my ass off and want to get back onto that board and start blasting away. OMG! This is crazy! Wow. |

Um....... Yeah. All that and more. I basically figured myself out starting in May 2010. Spent the past year or so implementing. You should have seen what the men here were saying as I posted about my self-discovery. But here I am, and it's real, and it's right.

I read some parts of your story and wow! I can imagine it's been really tough. I'm also dying to see the photos...I'm in the Hooch area.
Not to trivialize your awesomeness by comparing it to my story but living in Georgia and Texas my whole life and being a little outside the box caused a lifetime of social isolation and pain. A person doesn't have to be gay to experience this - just be a little weird and the world is cruel. And like my gay roommates who escaped from the Mormon church and came to SF, I too have found my kin - people who don't get teased at Thanksgiving for talking about tryptophan as a sleep enzyme. It's given me the "space" to find my "Dave-ness".
So again...congratulations on connecting with your identity, finding a community who appreciates you for you...as you are...a place where you can find your "Colleen-ness". It's so totally inspiring to hear your story and it looks like you are totally happy.

Mojo is DEFINITELY around, she's a major Force Majeure here, lol. She goes by MoxoMod now, though (are you surprised?). CeMar has popped in from time to time, but I haven't seen him in a while. There's a few others here you might remember... JourneysJoy (InHerJourney), HapHazard (not sure if you "knew her when"), Baltoman (I think he's from the old days), and a number of others. It'll seem like old home week, lol. For my latest pictures, look towards the most recent pages of "Colleen - In Her Own Write" - there's a Before and After on page 13. Otherwise, there are a couple of threads with pictures in The Powder Room (the Clothes thread, I think)...
